About Play Korfball

We’re launching a new, adult mixed-gender korfball league on a Thursday evening in Nottingham, starting Spring 2026. Our mission is to create a fun, competitive, and accessible space where people can enjoy the sport, meet new people, and help grow the korfball community locally.

League format

  • Multiple teams

  • Double round robin (play every team twice)

  • 1 match per team each week

  • Matches every Thursday night

Match structure

  • 50‑minute matches

  • 10‑minute changeover

  • 2-minute half-time

  • Earliest start: 6:30pm

  • Latest finish: 9:30pm

  • Time slots:

    • 6:30–7:30

    • 7:30–8:30

    • 8:30–9:30

Venues

  • The venues are yet to be confirmed however will be located in Nottingham

  • The venues will be full-size indoor courts

fees

  • £56 per match per team (roughly £6.20/£7 per person per match)

  • Covers hall hire, referees, insurance, equipment & admin

  • Referees are paid £15-£20 per game

WHO CAN ENTER

Anyone aged 18+, including:

  • Full teams

  • Partial teams

  • Individuals

  • University squads

  • Clubs

  • “Ringers” (casual players filling in)

  • You don’t need experience — we welcome total beginners alongside seasoned players

  • Teams will be able to select a team colour

  • Emergency bibs provided

  • No restrictions on:

    • Multi-team membership

    • Ringers

    • New players joining mid-season

TEAM REQUIREMENTS

A full rulebook is coming soon, but here are the key principles:

General Rules

  • Adults 18+ only

  • Mixed-gender play (4 girls, 4 boys per team)

  • No shot clocks

  • MVP selected by referees

  • Goals submitted by teams after matches

Participation Rules

  • Ringers allowed

  • Multi-team membership allowed

  • No limits on new players joining

  • Respect for referees and opposing teams is mandatory
